Yes — private by default. Transcription, translation and read-aloud all run on your Mac and never leave it. Only a few specific features use the internet, and each is opt-in or purely operational: an optional premium online translation engine for specific jobs, checking for updates, and a one-time licence activation. Nothing about your documents or audio is ever uploaded — and any corrections you make to improve translations are saved privately on your Mac, never uploaded.
Yes. The voices run entirely on your Mac — no internet, nothing uploaded. Read-aloud works fully offline.
Each edition is an annual licence for the devices it covers (Lite: 1 · Pro: up to 3 · Pro-Plus: up to 10). It’s validated offline on your Mac — no account or cloud needed day-to-day — and renews once a year.
It never stops you mid-session. The app reminds you 90, 60, 30 and 1 day before expiry — and renewing early (within 90 days) saves you 10%. After expiry there’s a short grace period; if you still haven’t renewed, the app moves to a read-only mode (finish and export your work) until you do — it won’t suddenly stop working.
Updates to your edition are free during your licence year and are available from our website. The app lets you know when a new version is ready.
When you spot a better wording, right-click ▸ “Suggest a better translation”, or use the Proofread console’s ✎ fix. Your correction is saved privately on your Mac as correction data — nothing is uploaded, and there are no points, leaderboards or moderation. Over time these on-device corrections help us train better model updates.
It’s strictly your choice. The premium online engine is off by default; you enable it in Settings with a clear explanation, and only the text for that job is sent. Turn it off and you’re 100% local again.
